I'd post this to a blacksmithing site such as I Forge Iron or anvil fire.

The best things about the good old days -- I wasn't good and I wasn't old.

The older I get, the more horses I shoe, the fewer things that I can absolutely, positively fix.

For god sakes, someone post a picture of this mysterious anvil. If I hear any more about this unicorn without pictures I'm gonna.. well I don't know yet, but this is annoying.

I knew Scott fairly well. He was starting a tool line and it was going to be called Canadian Tools. He had the Menninites(sp) do the casting of the anvils.
Some said canadian on them and some didn't.
At the time i was involed in a horseshoe making plant , we also forged tools.
Scott had approached us about forgeing his tongs and nippers and creasers.
We gave him a price and never heard back from him .
A couple years later i was at Kentucky Horse Park and ran into him there, he was working in the Farrier shop there.
Told me he had moved to Kentucky.
I heard a coulpe years ago that he had passed away , but i don't know for sure if he did or not.
He was very good in the fire and he lived for horseshoeing.
If you were talking to Scott , you were talking shoeing.

If I remember correctly, Red Tomlinson of Michigan,Vermont,Florida....keep naming States...horseshoeing school also had anvils cast for him.

Scotty is my brother. The anvil (unicorn????) is very rare and hard to find. Lee Liles searched for one and found one in California. It will be in his museum. I would be looking for one myself. My oldest brother has a small one which will remain in our family. Scotty died in October 2001. If any questions, you can contact me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or (my) Scott's dad at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Scotts daughters may have one but not sure. I also believe there is one at New Bolton.

Yes Ray , Thats very simular to the one he showed me. The one i saw said Canadian on it.
The mor i think back i may be wrong , and the mennonites who were casting his anvils came up with a line of their own and it was to be called canadian farrier tools.. i do remember the day Scott came to our shop the anvil he showed us said Canadian on it.
Either way i'am sorry to hear for sure of his passing.
Scott lived and breathed horseshoeing and was as dedicated as a farrier can get.

My condolences to you and your family,i had heard of Scott's passing but wasn't sure if it were true or not. What a huge loss to the farrier world.
i had the pleasure of meeting Scot a dozen or so times . He always remembered my name and treated me like we had been friends for years.
i first met him at Winfields Farms in Oshawa Ont were i believe he was the resident farrier.
Then i would see him ocassionally at the track with his friend Chris Barton.
they would come to Fort Eire once in a while and i would always spend the day with them .
Scottwas a great man in the fire , if you wanted a pair of tongs he'd forge you up a pair , creaser , or driving hammer , he'd make you one.
He was always looking to help another farrier out.
