I can't see where there would be much of a problem with #1. Not much would be lost. Most of the sites value is in the archives, "pre-conversion". Rick B, I'm guessing that with # 1 Eric would be suggesting converting from the "pre-conversion" data to a format that works, without the complication of what all has been done since the conversion, which has turned out to be quite a mess. • Quote: I got several old PM's too. Rick, I've been here almost since the beginning and I'm not ready to give up on it yet. Neither am I Rick, but nothing much has changed in the last 6 months or so. I don't post much because chances are about 50/50 that the post will actually make it. I've totally given up on the search function. Ray's site is functioning well, so I spend most of my cyber time there. This was such a great site, it saddens me how it's going. I don't think I'm alone in this. Steve is a truly good guy, and I wish he could get some help. Regards

  • I agree with Eric. Does it say anything that the last 4 out of 5 posts are about the Forum, not feet? Rick, my friend, how long does life support usually last? Usually the longer it lasts, the closer the patient gets death. Regards PS. did anyone else get email messages on PM's that were sent months ago? YesterdayI got one from Rick B and one from Ben S that I had gotten quite a while back.

  • Western Hill Forge thanks user 'Jack Evers' in the forum message ' Is there a hoof boot that will fit over a shod hoof?'.

  • Absolutely. You might find you don't even need the heart bars with the Equipac, but I guess I would keep them for now in the interest of only changing one thing at a time, so you will know which change worked. The equipac will give sole protection and support, as well as keeping dirt out of the foot. Another option might be to leave the hoof knife in the pocket for a cycle or two and try some Durasole. You could do this without your farrier, and it certainly wouldn't do any harm. I think in your case the Equipac sounds like a better bet, but who knows for sure? Regards

LOL, we were closer a year ago. In fact we were still there. I really just can't use it anymore. As a FYI, I just did a search, tried to go to one of the resulting posts, and got blown off the air with the common and dreaded 404 error. Cleared cookies, logged on again, and a reddish box on the screen saying something like "Kunena_communication_token_error. Man, if your software company/people can't fix this stuff in almost a year, they have some serious competence problems. If I were paying them, I would stop, and would push for reparations for ruining one of the best sites on the "interwebs". Regards

I check in every day. But about half of the time if I try to post more than a couple of lines, when I click submit, I get an error and get blown off the site. There seems to be no pattern or logic as to how it happens. We'll see how this one goes. Regards

Alexandra, Two things I kind of miss from the "old" forum were being able to see the posters location under their name, and being able to see who had viewed my profile page. Perhaps not real important, just helpful and interesting. Regards

  • If I remember correctly, in the "old" version, the "go to first unread" option was available when you opened the thread. The newer version automatically takes you to the first unread post, which is probably better. If you have read all the posts in the thread, opening it takes you to the first post. Regards

  • Western Hill Forge replied to the topic 'what is the objective here??' in the forum.
Steve, my friend, I guess I'm done posting here. I've been "blown off the air" for the last time. I did a search for the shoeing rig thread so I could post a pic of the forge slide-out I'd copied from Chip Crumly, and show how I had mounted my grinder under the forge. The thread came up in the search results "shoeing rig", but when I clicked on it I got the 404 error I think it was, then I couldn't get back on (606 error maybe? who cares) without clearing cookies. You have been told by a good many members what a mess this site is now. I guess you're just going to let it die - too bad, it was a good thing. I'll probably continue to lurk until it does, but frankly there's just not much to see here anymore. Think about this. Regards

Well, he's back with a whack job on his feet. Fortunately this whacker was very conservative and only did just take off the wall even with the sole, even when it needed more off. I was worried that he would get trimmed too short, as often happens around here on annual trims. The 'trimmer'(using that term very loosely) did not touch the sole, even where big lumps are sticking out. Didn't touch any flares. Like it looks like he's now ready to get a trim.
Not balanced by any means, but the big distortions on the coronary band are gone from having one side of a foot broken off. I can see areas that look a bit -stretched out.

Cool. I had no idea that the coronary band was this malleable, but upon thinking about it, I guess it has to be.
I'll make a few swipes with the rasp on the heels and square up the toes where they are still too long.
And yes, I will continue to be conservative as this is definitely a sleeping dog I don't want to wake up.

Is this just a poor choice of words?? Or are you really going to do that, and why? Why exactly do you think you should get involved in this? I agree with Ricks advice about letting sleeping dogs lay. Don't get bitten.

    Regards
